Alpine Adventure: St. Moritz from the 'Top of the World'

St. Moritz, beautifully located in Engadine valley of the Swiss Alps and known as the ‘Top of the World,’ is one of the most expensive ski resorts in the world during the winter time. During the summer time, it is more affordable as the upper class visits the area only during the winter. The hotels offer free ski-lift passes during the summer, which also include free rides to the mountains outside the village. During the winter time, those passes are pretty expensive.

Only Piz Nair is accessible right from the village. The next closest mountain is Muottas Muragl, which is a short bus ride from the village. It offers spectacular views of the lakes. A combination of bus and train ride takes you to Diavolezza and Morteratsch Glacier.

St. Moritz is also well known as a destination for sailing. It hosts the annual St. Moritz Match Race held on Lake St. Moritz. This race is part of the prestigious World Match Racing Tour, which covers three continents.

Every winter, it hosts the White Turf horse race on the frozen Lake St. Moritz attended by the international upper class.
