Since Innsbruck, western Austria, is located in a
broad valley between high mountains, the massive range of mountains makes it look
as they’re hovering over the town. The town is very picturesque and it is internationally
renowned for winter sports.
The landmark of Innsbruck is the Golden Roof located
in the Old Town. It was completed in 1500, the roof was decorated with 2,738
fire-gilded copper tiles for Emperor Maximilian I to mark his wedding to Bianca
Maria Sforza. The Emperor and his wife used the balcony to observe festivals,
tournaments, and other event that took place in the square below.
