Lillehammer and Maihaugen Open-Air Folk Museum

Lillehammer is situated in Oppland county of southern Norway. It became famous after hosting the 1994 Winter Olympics. The city offers a few tourist attractions including Storgata shopping area.














Maihaugen open-air folk museum is the largest one in Norway with 185 buildings, including Garmo stave church built around 1150. It is centrally located in Lillehammer. From 5 or 6pm until 9pm the gate to the museum is still opened and you can see it for free.






































The Norwegian Olympic Museum is the only museum in Northern Europe that shows whole the Olympic history from the ancient times and up to today, including all Summer- and Wintergames. The museum also houses the Norwegian Sports Hall of Fame and a special section about the Lillehammer ’94 Olympic Wintergames. The Museum is located in the indoor museum at Maihaugen.
