Pisa in central Italy is best known for the leaning tower. However, it is also home to the University of Pisa, which has a history going back to the 12th century. It was also the birthplace of the important early physicist Galileo Galilei.
The medieval complex includes Duomo (the Cathedral), the Baptistry, the Campo Santo (the monumental cemetery) and the bell tower of the Cathedral known as "the leaning Tower of Pisa.
