Chester the City of Chester Rows, Something Quite Unique

Chester, England, was founded as a Roman fort with the name Deva Victrix in 79 AD.

The city has many medieval buildings. It is one of the best preserved walled cities in Britain.

Chester is best known for Chester Rows, which are quite unique, nothing precisely similar exisits anywhere else in the world. Chester Rows consists of covered walkways at the first floor behind which are entrences to shops and other premises. At street level there is another set of shops and other premises, many of which are entered by going down a few steps.
